24/7 is thrilled to invite you to enjoy an Evening with Rai this Saturday 15 January 2005. Entrance is free, but guests are required to bring with them a contribution: something to drink and one edible ingredient, which will be transformed into a dinner by our art celebrity chefs during the event (see below). The evening will be articulated around the following delicious sub-flavours:
The One Ingredient Dinner
Guests are required to bring one food ingredient (vegetables, meat, fruit, bread, pasta, spices, drinks, pudding, etc) and something to drink (wine, beer, tequila, vodka, etc.) by 7pm. All of these ingredients will be combined by our art celebrity chefs to create a meal for everyone. This experimental dining station will be an attempt to construct an imagined but nevertheless wholly tangible community. Toasts with vodka and tequila will further promote the (actual and potential) bonding between the guests. Consumption will be thrust into irrevocable confrontation with conviviality. Because of the size of the kitchen entrance is limited to the first 50 guests. Arrive early or RSVP.
Presentation of the 24/7 newspaper
This newspaper has been produced on the occasion of 24/7: Wilno – Nueva York (visa para) exhibition at CAC Vilnius, which was conceived as an exhibition to last twenty four hours a day seven days a week. Please note that 24/7 newspaper sadly has no relationship to 24/7 Home Gallery. www.cac.lt/en.php/exhibitions/past/03/
London Premier of CAC/TV
On CAC/TV, every program is a pilot, and every program is the final episode. Logline: An amorphous group of social misfits and cultural outcasts are handed the reigns of a fledgling television program. Not having any experience in making television, they decide to re-invent the medium. Synopsis: A time-slot for personal fantasies, provisional anthropologies, interminable realities. Please note that Evening with Rai will be filmed, giving you the chance to become, for one night only, a star of CAC/TV. Remember to dress the part.
Notes to editors:
– Raimundas Malasauskas is a curator at the Contemporary Art Centre, Vilnius (www.cac.lt) in Lithuania and works with The So-Called Records (www.socalledrecords.com). Past projects include a psychic interview with George Maciunas (1934 – 1978), founder of the Fluxus movement; Bi-Fi series of events; forwarding of the telepathic message of Robert Barry to Jonathan Monk at Jan Mot gallery in Brussels (www.galeriejanmot.com). Recent projects include 24/7: The Exhibition and CAC TV both at CAC, Vilnius. Currently, with Alexis Valiant and Sofia Hernandez he is curator of the 9th Baltic Triennial of International Art to take place in CAC-Lithuania and ICA-London.
– 24/7 Gallery was set up in London in 2002 by Beatriz López (B-Lo), Juan Sebastián Ramírez, and Pablo León de la Barra. 24/7 functions as an international, independent, mobile and mutant no-budget gallery without a permanent physical space. Continuously rejected by the mainstream, 24/7’s mission is to exhibit whatever, whenever, wherever and is specially committed to showing artists and propositions with less visibility within the London context, while operating outside of the predictable habits of the art world.
